I was never really into playing games on my Android devices until I got the Nexus 7 late last year. The 7-inch form factor combined with an excellent display and all that horsepower under the hood make the Nexus 7 a perfect portable gaming device.

The Nexus 7 is my first Android tablet and before it I only used to purchase games on *insert the handset name I’m currently using*. However, ever since I got the Nexus 7, I have been sucked into mobile gaming pretty hard. On a daily basis, I spend around 30 mins to an hour playing games on my Nexus 7.

Below are the games that I am currently playing on my Nexus 7:

Asphalt 8

When I got my Nexus 7, Asphalt 8 was among the first few games that I downloaded on the device but never managed to play it. One boring day, I decided to give the game a try and boy, I was hooked. Yes, the game has a lot of IAPs but they have never particularly bothered me.

The graphics of the game are top-notch and so is the gameplay. Gameloft has also been updating the game from time to time to add new cars and other features like Google Play services integration and KitKat’s immersive mode — which are an added bonus.

Riptide GP2

Riptide GP2 comes from Vector Unit — one of my favorite developers on the Play Store. The team over at Vector Unit has constantly delivered quality games and Riptide GP2 is no exception.

The game has excellent graphics and gameplay with some stunning water effects as well. The game also has Google Play games integration with multi-player support, which makes this game a hot favorite among my friend group as well.

Angry Birds Go

I hate Rovio for what they have done with Angry Birds Go. The game is filled with IAPs and stupid time limits that completely ruin the gameplay experience for me. Yet, there is something about this game that I play I cannot stop myself from playing it every single day.

I really, really hope Rovio changes its revenue model down the line, otherwise the company will continue to ruin some excellent games.

If you have not already guessed it, I am a big fan of racing games. I recently played Real Racing 3 on my Nexus 7 as well but the game was beyond awful. Compared to the iPad version, the Android version is a big step down in the graphics department — enough for me to uninstall it.

There are a few other games that I play from time to time on my Nexus 7 including Dead Trigger 2, Dots, Badland and Osmos HD. However, its the three games mentioned above that almost always have my attention.
