Rimac 2018 C_Two concept car has now become the Nevera, a production version all-electric hypercar – and it’s a breathtaking beast.

The Nevera was released by the automaker yesterday and is everything that its name signifies in Croatian: quick, powerful, and unexpected, as the homonymous lightning storm that races across the Mediterranean Sea off the Croatian coast.

Powered by a 120kWh battery pack, the Nevera uses four electric motors — one for each wheel — to produce an impressive 1.4MW of power, which Rimac says is equivalent to 1,914 horsepower.

The hypercar’s quad-motor setup and aerodynamic design enable it to sprint to 60mph in just 1.85 seconds. It can accelerate from rest to 100mph in 4.3 seconds, and can reach 0-186mph in 9.3 seconds. That’s superfast; for reference the $3.6 million Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport does zero-to-60-mph in 2.3 seconds, with 350km/h top speed. The Nevera has a top speed of 415 kilometers per hour.

Controlling this amount of speed doesn’t come easily though. For that reason, Rimac have equipped the sportscar with a top notch regenerative braking system combined with 390 mm Brembo CCMR carbon-ceramic brake discs, and six-piston callipers. 

Of course, the supercar performance comes with a very high price – approximately $2 million.

Chalk up some of that exorbitant price to the car’s cutting-edge tech. The Nevera’s monocoque construction – the body is integral with the chassis – is the largest single carbon fiber piece in the automotive industry, according to the company, dramatically cutting weight and improving safety.

The car also features what Rimac claims to be the world’s first AI Driver Coach, which uses 12 ultrasonic sensors, 6 radars, and 13 cameras to help “optimize and enhance the driver’s on-track performance.” It does so by offering audio and visual guidance for lane keeping, braking, accelerating, and turning.

What’s more, the company’s offering a premium individual personalization program, and the customers will be able to design their cars by choosing from a large variety of bespoke trims and material options. On top of that, customers will be able to choose from multiple editions: GT, Signature, Timeless, and Bespoke.

The Nevera will be exclusively available through Rimac’s global dealer partners network, spread around 19 sites and many of the world’s major cities across Europe, North America, Latin America, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Only 150 cars will be made and each of them will be tested and signed by founder Matte Rimac himself.
