The Israeli website TGspot has discovered two Samsung Galaxy S4 mini variants on Samsung’s very own website. One is called the GT-i9195, the other is the SGH-i257. You’d think that the latter would be nothing more than a GS4 mini meant for a specific operator, but that’s not the case. According to the UAP (User Agent Profile) for the GT-i9195, that device has a screen that pushes 960 x 540 pixels. Meanwhile, the UAP for the SGH-i257 shows a GS4 mini that does 1280 x 720 pixels.

Is Samsung crazy enough to release a GS4 mini with two different screen resolutions? I’m going to vote yes. The one with the lower screen resolution is probably meant for markets that don’t have 4G LTE. (www.algerie360.com) In those particular parts of the world, people usually buy their handsets unsubsidized, so cost matters. According to SamMobile, the 4G LTE version of the GS4 mini will have more RAM (2 GB vs. 1 GB), which again, makes sense given the fact that it’ll probably be offered on contract.

Now I know what you’re thinking, a 720p version of the GS4 mini sounds perfect, right? One problem with that. From my research (read: five minutes on Google), it looks like Samsung phones that begin with the model number “SGH” are typically only sold in the United States and Canada.

Will Samsung make a 720p GS4 mini that’s sold in other markets? That’s what I want to know.

Update: In case you want to know what the GS4 mini looks like in the real world, here are a few pictures.
