Google has allowed non-Gmail users to access their email accounts through the Gmail app on Android for a little over a year now, and some great new features are incoming.
According to Google’s most recent announcement via the official Gmail Blog, the team has put together “Gmailify,” which will allow many oft-requested features for non-Gmail users using the Gmail app to finally be used.
Beginning today, Yahoo! Mail users, as well as users of Microsoft’s Outlook, can access features like spam protection, inbox organization, and even Google Now cards built around received emails. All of this without leaving the non-Gmail account behind.
You’ll need to follow some simple steps to get the process going, including enabling Gmailify. However, if the features that are linked to Gmail aren’t worth it to the user after they’ve tried them out, they can always disable the Gmail connection afterwards as well.
“All you need to do is open the Gmail app, sign in to your email account(s), and enable Gmailify. And of course, you’re always in control—so if you ever change your mind, you can unlink your account(s) at any time, and continue to access them through the Gmail app without using Gmailify.”
Gmailify is available right now, with more information through the source link below. You can check out a video of the feature below.
