Yesterday, Yahoo announced a major revamp for Flickr, its photo sharing service. Along with a major visual revamp for its website, the company also bumped the free storage to a whopping 1TB, with a max image file size of 200MB, which the company says will allow you to upload over 500,000 “full resolution” photos.

Yahoo also released a new version of the Flickr app for Android with the new photo-centric UI.

The app now features infinite scrolling so you don’t have to keep tapping on a button to see more photos. It also comes with notifications for any activity on your photo stream, the ability to comment on your friend’s photo, uploading photos, and applying filters to them are also present.

Unfortunately, Yahoo hasn’t addressed one of the major limitations of the the app.  It still lacks the option to auto-upload photos or video to Flickr. Facebook and Google+ (and even Dropbox), offer an option to automatically upload photos from your smartphone, which is probably a major reason lot of people use them. Mobile photography is now more popular than ever, so not having an option to auto-upload photos from your smartphone is definitely a bummer.

Apart from this, the UX of the app is not up to the mark as well, with the action of the back button being very inconsistent. Hopefully, Yahoo will continue improving the app and sort out these issues in future updates.
