On Wednesday, October 1, Dropbox officially announced a new update for Android devices that should make accessing, and transferring documents much easier for heavy users.
With the newest update, which brings the version up to 2.4.5.10, the ability to export documents from your Dropbox to your microSD card is now possible. This means, as Dropbox puts it on their personal blog, you can transfer documents, videos, to-do lists, photos, and whatever else you may have stored in the cloud to another Android device without having to worry about an internet connection (after the initial export, of course):
“It takes just a few steps: start by tapping the “Quick Action” button to the right of the file you want to export, select “More”, then “Export”, and tap “Save to Device” to pick your external SD card. (If you don’t see your external SD card listed there, choose the menu within the “Save to” screen, followed by “Settings” and then “Display advanced devices”.)“
The update isn’t just about exporting documents, though, as Dropbox now has better support for Android L devices. What’s more, there’s an even better search, with a focus on improving the overall speed. Dropbox says that if you’ve signed up for early releases through the Dropbox app directly, the update should be available to you now. For everyone else, the update will be rolled out over the next few hours. It’s also already available in the Google Play Store, and you can find a link to the app below.
