Meizu today unveiled a ‘Pro’ version of the MX4 at a special event in China. The handset looks similar to its smaller sibling, but comes with more power under the hood to live up to its ‘Pro’ moniker.
The MX4 Pro boasts some seriously impressive specs, including a 5.5-inch Quad HD display from Sharp with a bezel space of only 2.8mm on its right and left edges. Internally, the handset is powered by an octa-core Exynos 5430 processor, which comprises of four Cortex-A15 cores clocked at 2GHz and four Cortex-A7 cores clocked at 1.5GHz.
The powerful processor is backed by an equally impressive 3GB RAM and a Mali-T628 GPU from ARM. Other notable highlights in the device spec sheet includes a microSD card slot, 16/32/64GB of internal storage, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.0, and support for TD-LTE and FDD-LTE networks on a single variant.
On the camera front, the MX4 Pro comes with a 5MP f/2.2 selfie camera, while there is a 20.7MP Sony IMX220 Exmor RS sensor at the back with an F/2.2 aperture. It is also aided by two tone dual-LED flash.
The MX4 Pro comes with a physical home button that has an integrated fingerprint sensor dubbed ‘mTouch.’ Meizu boasts that the sensor features a response time of 0.5ms with a scanning angle of 360 degrees. The home button is protected by a sapphire glass on top with a steel ring running around it. The handset also comes “Retina Sound,” which is a combination of an advanced DAC, low-JITTER crystal oscillator and other high-end components to deliver top-notch sound quality.
The MX4 Pro also comes with an Audience eS704 audio chip that supports voice wakeup feature. The company will allow users to specify a specific keyword through which they can wake up the device and activate the voice assistant without pressing any physical button. On the software side, the MX4 Pro runs on Meizu’s latest version of Flyme OS (4.0), which is based on Android 4.4 KitKat.
The MX4 Pro will go up on sale in China from December 6th with a price tag of CNY 2499 ($410) for the base model.
