Tough question. I want to say that the GS3 is capable enough to get three or even more years of software updates, but I don’t know what Google plans to do to Android.

Especially the bump from 2.3 to 4.0 was heavy on hardware. I’d argue that only phones with more than 512MB RAM can run 4.0 whilst keeping decent multitasking capabilities. And few phones released in 2011 have more than that.

Do you think that the GS3 will be supported as long, or was the GS2 just updated for so long to gain a share of loyal customers?
