I can’t get PewDiePie’s tuber sim to stop being killed on my pixel XL, sometimes after only opening the google text app and the a news app. I come back, it’s been 2 min and the apps been closed.

Batt optimization is off on the app, I have plenty of free ram yet it’s still being closed.

I’ve had so many instances of switching between apps then loosing what I was doing in the first one because it was too eagerly closed. I just tried adjusting the battery optimisation setting and it fixed it. The app keeps running until I manually kill it in the recents screen.

The latest versions of Android are way too aggressive in their app-closing behavior, which is exacerbated by the way they try to use as much RAM as possible for speed, killing anything that’s not immediately used in the process. Fortunately, the OS is well crafted and lets you adjust the behavior like you’ve shown.

I changed those apps per your instructions re:battery settings but it’s still happening. I was able to correct this issue on my Note 5 some time ago by preventing “battery saving” which is not an option on my Note 4. This issue started with my Note 4 immediately after it upgraded to 6.0.1. Any ideas? Thanks, Sharon

Here you can choose which apps won’t be put to sleep.

Perhaps I’m just too stupid to figure it out, but I am ready to throw my phone in the garbage. Four hours is a laughably short time to quit an app. I check twitter, texts, and fitbit throughout the day. Constantly re-starting them irritates me to no end.
