The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 are the Korean company’s flagship handset for 2017. Both feature beautiful and large OLED panels at the front that are curved at their edges.
While the Infinity Display on the Note 8 and Galaxy S8 do look stunning, the curved edges and minimal bezels also mean that the display of the devices can easily shatter when dropped. The curved nature of the screen, in particular, makes it difficult to protect properly and even cases with raised lip can only do so much. Plus, you would surely not want the beautiful OLED display of your Galaxy S8 or Note 8 to be covered in scratches.
This is why you should look into using a screen protector for your Galaxy S8 or Note 8. While you will find plenty of screen protectors in the market for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8, not all of them will fit properly on the devices due to their curved display.
Avoid Tempered Screen Protectors
Due to the curved nature of the display, tempered screen protectors do not fit on the display of the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 properly. This issue is present with all tempered screen protectors available for the devices. Some screen protectors might seem to work initially but their glue would start giving up from the edges within a week or two of installation.
Other tempered screen protectors might create compatibility issues with the case that you are using on your Note 8 or Galaxy S8. Thus, it is highly recommended that you use a plastic screen protector with a wet installation on the S8 and Note 8. While the quality of a plastic screen protector is nowhere near close to a tempered one, it would at least still provide some form of protection to your display from scratches.

Made from flexible and durable thermoplastic urethane — a.k.a plastic in simple words — the Spigen Neoflex HD is the best screen protector in the market for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8. Since it is made of plastic, the screen protector can easily bend to fit the curved display and it also manages to cover the whole front fascia of the device. It is not your run of the mill plastic screen protector though. Since it curves to fit the edges of the display, the Neoflex HD has a wet installation method which can be a bit tricky if you have never used such screen protectors before. This also makes it important that you follow the installation instructions very carefully.
Also, make sure to squeeze all the water out from below the screen and let the protector dry itself before you start using your phone.
Whitestone Dome Glass
This is perhaps the only curved tempered screen protector for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ with a certain degree of positive feedback. The screen protector uses a proprietary UV adhesive installation and manages to cover all edges and corners of the Galaxy S8’s display without any issues. However, to ensure that there are no unintended rainbow effects or glue issues, you will need to strictly follow the installation instructions.
A major issue with Whitestone Dome Glass screen protector is that its incompatible with almost all cases. If you try and use a rear cover with your Galaxy S8 or Note 8 after installing the Dome Glass, the cover would end up pushing out the edges of the screen protector. The extremely high price tag of the screen protector is another issue in itself.
Ringke Invisible Defender
Ringke has taken a unique approach for its Invisible Defender screen protector for the Galaxy S8. To ensure that it protects the curved screen properly, the screen protector actually extends to the side of the phone to include the metallic chassis as well. This way, along with the screen, the Invisible Defender also protects the chassis of the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 from scratches and dents.
The screen protector is made from urethane and can be yours for only around $10 thereby making them the cheapest screen protectors for the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 on this list. And you get two of them in case you end up messing the installation of the first one.
The curved screens of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 might look gorgeous but that also makes them very difficult to protect using a screen protector. While Samsung does use Gorilla Glass 5 on both devices, it is not exactly scratch resistant and can pick up scratches when you keep the phone in your pocket with keys or other sharp objects.
