Was looking between this and the honor 5c, the moto lacks a compass but has a gyro and the honor 5c has a compass but no gyro… lol..

in your honest opinion, having done articles on both and keeping in mind the requirements i’m looking for, which phone would you recommend?

You are not going to face any issues while using Google Maps Navigation on the Moto G4 Plus. Its just that the blue dot/arrow will only point to the correct direction after you start moving a bit.

Thanks for the response Rajesh, through my searches online people made mention that a lack of a compass for example can be compensated for by using gps and other sensors to help for location. Is this true? So with no compass effectively one cant use just the normal google maps for directions even?

Compass and Gyroscope are a must for Google Sky Maps and other similar apps. The Moto G4 Plus lacks a compass that can lead to issues when using such apps
