You can tell a lot about an Android handset maker by how well they support their devices. Sony, once the laughing stock of Android-land, now tries incredibly hard to keep their entire portfolio up to date. Samsung, like Sony, used to be horrible, but these days their devices ship with the latest versions of Android and they’re often supported for at least two years.

Which brings us to HTC, who once upon a time used to be synonymous with the word Android. If you’re lucky, you’ll get software updates for the next 12 months. That attitude likely isn’t going to change either. According to @LlabTooFeR, an anonymous Twitter user who is known for providing accurate information about HTC’s future plans, the One X will get Android 4.2.2 later this year, and then that’s it. End of the line.

For those who don’t remember the One X, it was announced at Mobile World Congress last year. The phone started shipping in April, which means it’s officially one year old. To give you some comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy S II, which turns two years old next month, is rumored (source: SamMobile) to be getting Android 4.2.2 at some point this year.

Now that’s called support.
