It is all but known that the HTC is working on a mini variant of the HTC One. Pictures and rumored specs of the handset leaked online last week, suggesting that the announcement of the phone is imminent. Today, the official marketing name of the handset has leaked as well.
The folks over at The Next Web have managed to dig out the final name of the mini HTC One – the HTC One Mini. They also managed to confirm that the handset would indeed come with a 72op resolution screen, thanks to an User Agent Profile on an HTC owned domain htcmms.cow.tw.
At this point, quite a lot about the HTC One Mini has leaked out except for details about the camera and the processor. The handset will be a smaller variant of the One, with a smaller 4.3-inch 720p display. It will feature a plastic cladding in the front to cut down on costs, but will still feature the front-facing ‘BoomSound’ speakers as seen on its bigger brother. It will be running on Android 4.2.2 out of the box, with Sense 5 and BlinkFeed accompanying it.
With the high-end smartphone market peaking, OEMs have shifted their focus to the mid-range Android market. With the impending launch of the One Mini, the market for mid-range Android phones is all set to become fiercer.
