Stock Android lovers, your time has arrived! After an agonising wait of more than a month, the stock Android 4.2.2 running Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One are now available on the Play Store. Instead of being called the Google Experience devices, Google will be calling them the Galaxy S4 Google Play edition and the HTC One Google Play edition, respectively.
The reviews of the handsets are out as well, and I would recommend readers to go through AnandTech’s review. Internally and externally, these Google Play edition handsets are the same as the TouchWIZ and Sense running SGS4 and One. They are also running on stock Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with just a few minor changes, including an enhanced Camera app that had previously leaked on the Nexus 4.
You can buy the Galaxy S4 Google Play edition from the Play Store for $649 with 16GB of internal storage. The HTC One Google Play edition comes in at a slightly cheaper $599 with 32GB of on-board storage. Sadly, both the devices will start shipping from the Play Store from July 9th, which is a bit disappointing. Keep in mind that both of these handsets are unlocked, so you can use them without any issues on either the AT&T and T-Mobile HSPA+/LTE networks without any issues.
