The Moto X went on sale today in the United States on AT&T’s network. Along with the availability of the handset in retail AT&T stores, the Moto Marker website, which will allow Moto X owners to customize the handset to their liking also went live. However, not all is rosy with the website and the execution will leave potential buyers scratching their head.

A potential Moto X customer will head over to the Moto Maker website to design the handset according to his or her liking, and then order it. However, even before the user can customize the phone, the website will prompt him to redeem the Moto X card. This Moto X card can be purchased from any AT&T store, and will allow the buyer to customize the handset using Moto Maker.

The Moto Maker website also offers the option to design your Moto X right now, and then order it later on when online purchasing is actually made available. Yes, I am serious here! In a sensible world, Motorola would have allowed Moto X buyers to customize the phone, and then order it right from the website.

The Moto Maker’s launch has been plagued with hiccups, and this is just another hiccup in that huge list.
