Motorola’s Moto X, which isn’t a “flagship” device is you use the old definition of “Android flagship phone”, is currently on sale in just one country from two operators: AT&T and Verizon. The CEO of T-Mobile, John Legere, recently sent out a tweet saying his company would be offering the Moto X in September. That’s great news for T-Mobile customers, but it’s not so straightforward. According to a leaked inventory system screenshot obtained by TmoNews, it looks like T-Mobile will tell people to buy the Moto X via the Google Play Store.

Connecting all the dots, it looks like Google is going to going announce, at some point in the next few weeks, that people will be able to buy the Motorola Moto X directly from Google themselves. This isn’t unprecedented if you think about it. Google already sells the Nexus 4, the Samsung Galaxy S4, and the HTC One via the Play Store, so what’s one more phone to them?
Also, think of the benefits. No operator bloatware, fully unlocked, direct updates from Google/Motorola themselves, and the list just goes on and on. Now all we need to know is when and how much?
