Apart from unveiling the N1, Oppo also announced – yesterday – that the handset will ship with its ColorOS ROM out-of-the-box. ColorOS is not a new OS as the name would suggest. Instead, it’s a UI overlay on top of Android, like Sense and TouchWIZ, and is currently based on Android 4.2.2.

Now, less than 24 hours after Oppo’s announcement, the ColorOS ROM has been ported to the HTC One. The ROM is based on Android 4.2.2 and even includes the Sense framework files, so One owners can manually install the Sense apps by grabbing the APK from the Internet.

Unlike TouchWIZ and other OEM UIs out there, Oppo’s ColorOS looks very beautiful, clean and polished. The in-built widgets, in my opinion, are among the most well built ones I have ever come across.

There are a few caveats with the ROM, though, including the lack of Google Apps and root access. However, both of these can be gained by simply flashing the Google Apps and Superuser zip file.
