Yesterday, we had reported about the poor performance of the Nexus 5 speaker and that Google is working on a fix for it. However, if you cannot wait for the update from Google to be available, fear not as popular kernel developer faux123 a.k.a Paul is here to save the day. 

Faux has managed to port his FauxSound feature, as originally seen on the Nexus 4 and other Snapdragon S600 devices, to the Nexus 5. Using FauxSound, users will be able to increase or decrease the output gain of the speakers, and even the headset/phones, from a hardware level. Like the Nexus 4, the volume of music playback via headset/headphones is extremely quiet. Thankfully, users can fix that as well using FauxClock by increasing the digital gain. Since this is a kernel level mod, users will have to make install Faux’s custom kernel for FauxSound to work properly.
