The Moto X runs on a near stock Android with just the right amount of features and enhancements from Google. To make sure that Motorola does not need to roll out a new software update to the Moto X every time it updates or fixes a bug with one its app, it made the apps available on the Play Store.
This move allows Motorola to directly push a bug-fixing update for any of its inbuilt app from the Play Store, instead of rolling out a new update. Considering how slow carriers are in the United States to roll out new updates, this move from the company definitely makes sense.
Today, the company has rolled out an update for the Active Display app fixing the lag that occurs when a user tries to unlock the device from the Active Display screen.

Fix for the 1- (or) 2-(second) deley seen when swiping down or up to unlock from Active Display screen.
The app is only available on the Play Store for Moto X units that are running the Android 4.4 KitKat though.
It is nice to see Motorola find ways to bypass carriers to quickly update its devices with bug fixes that hamper usability. If you are looking to get your hands on the Moto X, Motorola will be offering the device for only $350 today via its website.
