This year has come full circle. In Q1 we all drooled over the Snapdragon 600 powered HTC One and Galaxy S4. In Q3 the internet collectivity foamed at the mouth over all the new Snapdragon 800 devices hitting the market. But today, all anyone can seem to talk about is the budget market. The $180 Moto G shocked people, coming in at nearly $200 less than the Nexus 5, yet delivering more than adequate performance for most people. Well, according to two new rumors on SamMobile, this trend of low cost hardware will continue.

The site says that Samsung is going to announce at least two new smartphones at Mobile World Congress. That in it of itself is rather odd since Samsung usually prefers to host their own events, but let’s run with it. These two devices are said to be “Lite” versions of the Galaxy Grand and the Galaxy Note 3. The specs of the Note 3 Lite aren’t yet known, but it’s said that the AMOLED panel will be swapped out for an LCD, and that the camera will be knocked down from 13 megapixels to 8 megapixels.

As for the Grand Lite, it’s going to have a 5.0 inch 800 x 480 pixel panel, quad-core 1.2 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, and it’ll likely run Android 4.3 out of the box.

Now it’s incredibly difficult to judge either of these devices without having more information, especially the price. I firmly believe that there’s no such thing as “bad” products. Instead, there are products that are just priced incorrectly. These two devices need to either undercut or meet $200 to be taken seriously.
