Along with the Xperia Z2, Sony also unveiled its Z Tablet successor — the Xperia Z2 tablet — which sports an impressively thin waistline of 6.44mm and is only 426gms heavy. This makes the Z2 Tablet thinner and lighter than the iPad Air. The 10-inch display on the tablet sports Full HD resolution and comes with the widest color gamut, thanks to the Live Color LED display.
Other specs of the tablet are similar to the Xperia Z2 including a Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a IP55/58 waterproof design. The only real compromise is an 8MP snapper at the back instead of the 20.7MP shooter on Sony’s new flagship smartphone. The device also features front-facing stereo speakers with S-Force Surround Sound setup along with digital noise cancellation via the bundled headset. Sony has also managed to retain the 6000mAh battery that should provide decent battery life.
The Xperia Z2 tablet will go up for sale from March in black and white colors and will be running Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box.
While the Xperia Z2 and Z2 tablet might hog all the attention, the company also unveiled a new mid-range smartphone — the Xperia M2. The handset sports a 4.8-inch qHD display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, LTE, an 8MP camera and a 2300mAH battery. The design is also similar to the Z series of devices, including the Z1 and Z2. The Xperia M2 will go up for sale sometime in April for around $300.
Lastly, Sony also announced that its Smartband fitness tracker will be releasing in more than 60 countries in March. Initially, it will only be available in black with more colors to follow soon. Sadly, Sony did not provide any information about the pricing of its wearable device.
