The Galaxy S5 packs in a lot of features, some of which it borrows from Samsung’s previous flagship — the Galaxy Note 3. One such feature is Air View. It allows you to perform certain actions by simply hovering your finger over the display. While the option is not very helpful in day-to-day use, it can still come in handy in certain situations. Air View, however, has been disabled by default and needs to be enabled from the absolutely cluttered Settings menu first. Here’s how to do it.

Since the Galaxy S5 does not come with an S-Pen, Samsung has not included all the Air view gestures as seen on the Note 3. Instead, it only allows you to do a selected few actions mentioned below:

• View more details about an event in S Planner
• Get an enlarged thumbnail view of your images in the Gallery
• Preview a scene in the video player by hovering your finger over the progress bar
• Check the contacts assigned to the speed dial.

As you can see, Air view is pretty limited on the Galaxy S5. Nonetheless, if you still are interested in using it, here is how to enable it:

Step 1: Head over to Settings -> Air View under the Motion category.

Step 2: Toggle the switch to the On position to enable Air view.

And that’s it! You can now enjoy using Air view gestures on your Galaxy S5.
