As reported a few days ago, Samsung has gone ahead and unveiled an upgraded version of the Galaxy S5 in South Korea, dubbed the Galaxy S5 broadband LTE-A.

As the name suggests, the handset supports the recently deployed LTE-A network by carriers in South Korea for a theoretically maximum download speed of 225Mbps.

While the LTE-A enabled Galaxy S5 looks just like the original Galaxy S5, it packs in a 5.1-inch WQHD display and a faster Snapdragon 805 chipset clocked at 2.5GHz. Samsung has also bumped the RAM on the device to 3GB to possibly cope up with the increase in resolution.

Other specs of the handset remain the same as the original including an 16MP ISO-CELL rear-camera, 2MP front-facing camera, a heart rate sensor, a fingerprint scanner, a 2800mAh removable battery and an IP67 certified design. The handset will be available in Charcoal Black, Shimmering White, Electric Blue, Cooper Gold, Sweet Pink and Glam Red (SKT exclusive).

The Galaxy S5 LTE-A will apparently be available from June 19th on SK Telecom with a launch on LG U+ and KT to follow.
