LG has just announced the G3 Screen, which is powered by its own in-house mobile application processor — NUCLUN. 

The octa-core processor comprises of four Cortex-A15 cores that are clocked at 1.5GHz and four low-power A7 cores running at 1.2GHz using ARM’s big.LITTLE technology. Pronounced “NOO-Klun,” the processor also supports LTE Cat.6 networks for a maximum download speed of up to 225Mbps.

“NUCLUN opens up a new chapter in LG’s history of innovation in the mobile industry,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “With this in-house solution, we will be able to achieve better vertical integration and further diversity our product strategy against stronger competition. NUCLUN will give us greater flexibility in our mobile strategy going forward.”

As for the G3 Screen itself, it inherits the design language, UX and camera of LG’s current flagship handset — the G3. The handset has been specifically made for the Korean market and comes with a 5.9-inch 1080p display, 2GB RAM, a 13MP OIS+ camera, 32GB built-in storage, microSD card slot and a 3000mAh battery.

Just like the G3, there is also a 1-watt speaker on the back of the handset. The handset will be available for $750 in white and black colors.
