Galaxy Note Edge owners have had to sit back and watch while Samsung updated a whole host of older handsets to Lollipop, but not anymore. The new device has finally started receiving its Android 5.0.1 upgrade down under.

The over-the-air update weighs in at over 1GB, and it’s currently hitting devices with the SM-N915G model number. In addition to visual improvements to TouchWiz and Samsung’s own Android apps, it brings a whole host of new features and improvements.

Users now have access to things like Smart Lock, lock screen notifications, the improved multitasking layout, and multi-user mode. The Note Edge also has a “mute” mode, which Google didn’t bake into Lollipop by default.

Lollipop also brings improved performance and better battery life, thanks mostly to the ART runtime, which is the new standard for Android 5.0 and above.

While this update is only reaching users in Australia for now, it’s good news for Note Edge users the world over because it finally signals the start of the Lollipop upgrade process for Samsung’s newest Note handset.
