The G2 is LG’s current flagship Android phone. It was announced in August and went on sale earlier this week at AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile. It’s been a little over a day, and both the AT&T and the Verizon version of the handset have been rooted. The root was worked out by djkineticover over at xda-developers .

As reported by Droid-Life, you’ll need to know how to use ADB. You also need to be comfortable with the rooting process and know how to make Titanium backups of your phone. It’s an 11-step process that is detailed on xda-developers. You must follow it carefully, even the part about downloading and installing a Chinese binary.

Now that root is out the way, it is on to bigger and better things like unlocking and custom ROMS for the handset. Give it a little more time and the G2 may turn out to be a fun phone for hackers to tinker with.
